An arithmetic number sequence is a number pattern where a constant difference, d, is added to each term to arrive at the next. To determine whether a number pattern is arithmetic, look for a number that is added (or subtracted) to each term in order to arrive at the next. Graphically, these look like linear relationships where the common difference is akin to a slope.
