The word "evaluate" is similar to "substitute" in math problem instructions- you will be given an expression with some variable, and some number to substitute in where that variable was. Your first step is to replace the variable with the given number and then you will need to simplify using the order of operations (PEMDAS.) We will look at an example of a "grouping" that doesn't technically have parentheses, but is simplified in the first step of the order of operations.
