We will approach each problem by first looking for any Parentheses or groupings, then any Exponents, the Multiplication or Division from left to right, and lastly, Addition and Subtraction from left to right. The acronym PEMDAS might help you remember this order. A common mistake is doing all multiplications before divisions because M comes before D in "PEMDAS," so we look here at examples of why we must move left to right in simplifying.
