We can use variables, or letters that represent an unknown value, to write equations that represent real life problems. Here we practice using key words in word problems to write and solve one-step equations. As always, it is a good idea to estimate what the answer will probably look like before doing any calculations. Not only will it help you truly understand what the question is asking, but it will also help you know if the answer you get at the end makes sense.
