When we go to solve an equation, we want to get the variable isolated. We are trying to find the value (or values) of the variable that make the equation true. To do this, we "un-do" what's being done to x step by step to get the variable isolated. Undo addition or subtraction first, then undo multiplication and division. Check your work by substituting your final answer back into the original equation.
