One of the most common relationships in math and science is that the distance an object travels equals its rate times the time, sometimes called d = rt . You can isolate either the rate or time by dividing by the other. Be careful to read the units on all of the variables to make sure they make sense with each other. You can use similar ideas to solve for either the base or height of a triangle in the area equation A = 1/2 bh.
