The area of a circle is pi times the radius squared, and the circumference of a circle is either pi times the diameter or 2 pi times the radius. If you leave the Greek letter pi in your answer, you'll have an exact answer, whereas if you use 3.14 as an approximation for pi, you'll have an approximate answer.
