When we are asked to solve an equation, we are trying to find the value (or values) of the variable that make the equation true. To solve, we want to isolate the variable by "un-doing" what's being done to the variable step by step. Here we undo multiplication by using division, and we undo division using multiplication to get the variable all by itself. Keep in mind that if the two numbers have the same sign, like both positive or both negative, then the result will be positive. If they have opposite signs, like one positive and one negative, then the result will be negative.
