Notation in math is the way we write our ideas. Multiplication and division can be written in multiple ways: multiplication can be written with parentheses, an asterisk *, a dot, or an x. Division can be written with a division sign, or a fraction. Understanding and writing notation correctly is important in all of your math work. Here we practice using the ideas of multiplying and dividing positive and negative numbers. If the two numbers have the same sign, like both positive or both negative, then the result will be positive. If they have different signs, like one positive and one negative, then the result will be negative.
