To graph a point, first remind yourself that the x number is listed first and tells the side to side placement, whereas the y number comes second and presents the up/down placement. Start from where the x and y axes cross, which is the origin, or (0, 0), and count the x value right for positive and left for negative. From there, move up for positive y and move down for negative y. Place a point at the corner where the grid lines on your graph paper cross and label it with its letter.
