A ratio represents a comparison between 2 quantities with division. A ratio can be written in 3 ways: as a fraction, like 2/3 , with a colon like 2:3 , or with words like "two to three." These all mean the same thing. We use ratios to convert units, like turning feet into miles or dollars into euros. They show up in referring to the steepness of a line and as the basis of trigonometry.
