If we want an exact product or quotient of two mixed numbers, we would re-write them as improper fractions and move from there. But, if estimation will reach your goal, round the improper fractions to the nearest whole integers and do the operations from the rounded numbers. This is something you might do in the real world to get an estimate rather than using pen and pencil to find an exact answer.
