The instructions "evaluate" mean substitute the given value in where you see the variable. From there, we simplify using the order of operations. This particular problem has multiple parentheses, so we'll work from the inside moving out. Also, we need to do any groupings, like simplifying the numerator of a fraction, even if it doesn't have parentheses. The first step of the order of operations, PEMDAS, includes parentheses as well as any groupings.
