Many people know that the first step in simplifying a math expression is simplifying the parentheses, as in P, but this first step includes simplifying groupings as well. Here we look at numerators of fractions that may or may not have parentheses, but still need to be simplified first. It is helpful to do one step per each line on your paper and work vertically as you simplify.
