The way we read decimals aloud casually is not actually mathematically precise- we should use the correct vocabulary. Each digit has a place value that helps us read it correctly. To the left of the decimal point, the numbers are said like "tens" or "hundreds" place, whereas on the right of the decimal point, there is the addition of the -ths, like "tenths," or "hundredths."
