As with any kind of solving equations, first undo any addition and subtraction. If there is a decimal in front of the variable, you'll need to "undo" it by dividing both sides by that decimal. To divide, move the decimal on both the dividend and the divisor the same number of spaces so the divisor will be an integer. Check your work with a calculator, if possible.
