When we want to add or subtract decimals, the hardest part is keeping track of how the numbers line up with each other so we know which numbers to add to which. As an organizational strategy, add zeros to the end of the shorter decimal until they are the same length. Then write the numbers vertically with the decimal points on top of each other, and then do the addition or subtraction.
