The concept of a negative or zero exponent can be hard to understand in isolation- it is easier to remember and understand the exponent rules if you look at them in context. Here we create a chart with powers of two to connect what you already know about squaring and cubing and using exponents are repeated multiplication with the idea of negative and zero exponents.
