To find the product or quotient of two numbers in scientific notation, first multiply (or divide) the base decimal. Next, add the exponents for multiplication, or subtract the exponents for division. Then move the decimal to make sure the base is an value between 1 and 10, counting how many places you move the decimal. Add that number of decimal place moves to the exponent on 10.
