A huge key idea in math is identifying and describing patterns. Often, patterns are presented as pictures rather than numbers. Here, we look at three types of visual patterns that change and predict how many items would be in some "n'th" pattern. A tip is to make a list of term numbers along with how many objects are in each term in order to see if the pattern is arithmetic, and if so, to find the common difference number, d. From there, we use the explicit formula to find any term.
