Every polynomial is classified using two words: the first tells us the degree, or highest exponent of the polynomial, and the second word tells us how many terms it has. Other important vocabulary of polynomials are standard form (when the polynomial is set equal to zero and the exponents go in decreasing order,) and the leading coefficient (the first coefficient when the polynomial is in standard form.)
