The instructions "evaluate this polynomial for x = (some number)" mean you should substitute that value in for x and simplify the expression. Be sure to use the order of operations- parentheses/groupings, exponents, multiplication and division from left to right, and adding and subtracting from left to right. With exponents, be careful with negative signs. - x squared is different from (- x) squared with parentheses.
