Two variables are said to vary "indirectly" or "inversely" when one decreases when the other increases. Algebraically, this looks like y = k/x, or sometimes re-written as xy = k. Often, we are given a pair of variables that we use to solve for k, and from there we use the k to find a second pair of values.
