Since a circle equation has two squared binomials (one with x and one with y,) we must complete the square twice in order to get from general form to standard form. First, group the x terms and the y terms next to each other. Then complete the square on each variable, being careful to balance the equation by adding two values as you go. From there, you can identify the center and radius of the circle in standard form.
