Here are some great tips to filling out the UC Application. 1. Apply to as many schools as you like. None of the schools will know how many you actually applied to so there’s no way it can harm your application. 2. Choose your major carefully. Many UC’s have impacted majors which make it harder to get into than non-impacted majors. However, don’t let that discourage you. If that’s truly what you want to study, then go for it. You should never choose a major because you think it will improve your chances of getting into the college. 3. UC San Diego has six different college that you have to rank in order of preference. Choose wisely because each school has different requirements. 4. Don’t leave the Scholarship section blank. There might be something that you qualify for. 5. You are not required to submit income information. 6. The Academic History section only allows for UC approved courses. 7. The Activities & Awards section gets alphabetized once you submit everything so don’t worry about putting it in order of priority. 8. The Personal Essay only allows for 1,000 words total with the biggest split being 750 words for one essay and 250 words for the other. Just to be on the safe side, try to keep the total word count to 950 words.
