When solving absolute value equation, why do you split the equation into two parts once you've isolated the absolute value? I thought you couldn't have negative absolute value..

The absolute value means the distance from zero , on both the sides of the number line. For example absolute value of 3 is positive 3 and absolute value of -3 is also positive 3But the number inside absolute value sign can be negative. It is only the value of ab is positive
