The answer is nice, but knowing how to get it...On the left distribute -5 through the parentheses and on the left distribute 3. You get 3-5x-10=3x+3+6. Now combine like terms on each side and get -5x-7=3x+9. Now solve by getting the variable you are solving for on one side and the constant on the other. Subtract 3x from both sides and add 7 to both sides. You get -8x=16. Now divide both sides by -8 and get x=-2.
