Genes don't reproduce. At the ends of a chromosome, there's something known as telomeres. These are where the DNA is stored in the chromosome. So when a cell divides, some of the telomere is used to help function the cell. Eventually, when out telomeres run out, there will be no more DNA to use, and eventually all the cells die, and we die.

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but many of your 20,000 or so genes are the same as my 20,000 or so genes (you and I digest our food with probably the same enzymes, we both develop our spinal cords in the same way, etc, all things controlled by genes).  So in that sense, yes, genes are repeated/shared amongst humans.  It's kind of like saying every computer has something like 20,000 programs.  Two very similar computers (say two Dell computers) will likely both have very similar/identical programs on their hard drives, but a Mac will have a lot of programs that are different.  That's like how two humans will share many genes in common, but not share many in common with a redwood tree.
