well PSAT is a test taking

Preliminary Scholastics Aptitude Test. This is basically a practice test for the SAT. You can take it as a sophmore and again as a junior. Though colleges only really look at your results as a junior.

it is a shorter version of SAT taken in october in junior year. It is out of 240 pts all 3 sections ( math, critical reading and writing are worth 80 pts maximum) typically if you get a high score you can get a scholarship and become semi-finalist/finalist. Each state has different criteria to qualify for the scholarship. Different scores can help qualify in different states
