why did she divide all the numbers by 3? isn't she suppose to minus 3 from both side? not inside the absolute value. just minus 3 from 3 and 12?

Because that 3 in front is being multiplied to the absolute value, not added to it (there would be a + sign if it was being added to it). We undo multiplication with division, so to get rid of the 3 being multiplied to the absolute value, you would divide both sides by 3.
