There are generally three types:Hydrogen BondsDipole-DipoleVan der WaalsHydrogen Bonds: Like in water. These are the strongest intermolecular forces.Dipole-Dipole: The reason why it's known as dipole is because like, a magnet, opposites attract hence, (DI-pole). These are like in hydrochloric acid. The only difference between these and water is that hydrogen bonds must be N, O or F. Since, this is Cl, it is dipole-dipole.Van der Waals: 2N2, 2O2, 2F2. These are the weakest forces as the electrons keep on moving around, these bonds will not be permanent.
