What is the difference between "Compound" and Heterogenous & Homogeneous Mixtures?  Is ClNa4 is compound?

I am really confused about difference between substance and mistures.  More confusing is that the difference between "compound" and "heterogeneous & homogeneous mixtures."  Also, how do you know the number of nutrons for an element if the mass number is not given?

Thank you in advance!

Heya,Basically, the difference between a compound and a mixture is that a compound is chemically reacted due to the valency etc. A mixture is the mixing of substances without making the atoms of the different substances to react. And no, ClNa4 is not a compound. First of all, the charge isn't "0", unless it is a radical, which it is not. Secondly, even if it were to exist, you must always state the metal first, so it would be Na4Cl. Remember, it doesn't exist.Hope this helps
