Both reproduction methods produce offspring.  Meiosis is the reproduction method for sexual reproduction.  It produces 4 offspring and takes 2 stages.  Meiosis II is the second stage and its activities are very much like those in the asexual reproduction process called mitosis.  Mitosis produces identical new cells with the same information as the mother cell.  The four cells from Meiosis usually have different information than the mother cell and each of the new cells has half of the original DNA.
