2( x / 2 - 1 ) = 4 Question: Why isn't the 1 multiplied by the 2 2(x/2 -1) = 4 Shouldn't the step be?  2x + -2 = 4  Then Divide both sides by 2 please explain

You can...it becomes...x - 2  =  4OR dividing by 2...you get...x/2 - 1 = 2which then becomes...x - 2 = 4 anyway...x = 6
