Two negatives equal a positive. So negative 4 plus negative 5 equals negative 9 -4 + -5 = -9

Sorry.  Two negatives equal a NEGATIVE. Simply add the 2 negative numbers together. (-4)+(-5)=-9 Hope that helps.

this simplfies to (-4-5) one way to look at it is to take out the negative so it becomes: -(4+5)=-(9)=(-9)
