Vanessa -Try sketching on paper several polygons starting with 3-sides, then 4-sides, next 5-sides, etc.  Then create a table with two column headings: # sides polygon and # triangles.  Finally, fill in this table by picking one vertex and drawing a straight diagonal to each of the remaining vertices.  Count the number of triangles created for each polygon. Write your answer in your table.Look for a pattern.  If you have a 3-sided polygon, how many triangles do you have? 4-sided? 5-sided, etc.  You will see the pattern pop out in front of you!Hope that helps
