Can someone tell me how to slove this x+4y=2  3x-2y=-22 it asking me to solve the system by addition. anyhelp would be helpful thank you

They are asking you to "eliminate" one of the variables by adding the two equations together.  Try multiplying the first equation by -3, this will allow you to eliminate the x-variable by addition.Hope that helps

you can add/subtract the two equations together in that one of the variables disappears when you multiple one of the equations by a number than would make (let's say) x = 3x or -3x.Simply multiply the whole equation by that number.Then add/subtract (depending on whether you chose -3x / 3x) to get rid of x. then you solve for y.remember to add/subtract the sum as well (2 [times -3 or 3] and -22)
