How can I find the degree and leading coefficient of : -5v-18v^8-12v^2+7 Please explain. Thank you.

Chris -The "degree" of a polynomial function is simply the value of the biggest positive exponent.  In you example, 8 is the biggest positive exponent and is also the degree of this polynomial.The "leading coefficient" is simply the value of the constant in front of the term with biggest exponent.  In your example, the term with the biggest exponent is:So the leading coefficient is -18.Hope this helps
