This problem can be solved using similar triangles.The ratio of any corresponding side of similar triangles are equal.  In your problem the heights of the poles are "corresponding sides" of a triangle and the ratio is 30/20 or 1.50, agree?  Important:  sketch a quick picture of the similar triangles to make sure you are taking the ratio of corresponding sides.Now that you know the ratio is 1.50, use that to find the length of the shadow.Hope that helps
