Let's let x = HOW and y = WHYNow 1/4 = 1/12 * xMultiply both sides by 12 and 12/4 = 12/12 * x or 3 = x1/4 = 1/6 * yMultiply both sides by 66/4 = 6/6 * y or 1.5 = y3 * 1.5 = 4.5

of indicates multiplication and 'is' indicates it is equal so 1/4=1/12 x HOW. so multiply out by 12 and get 3=HOW,next set up equation for next one 1/4=1/6 * (2WHY). This results in 1/4=1/3(WHY). This equals 3/4. SO .75 *3=2.25
