Solid Liquid and Gas. When a substance is at a solid state, particles are in a fixed position and they vibrate as the bonds between them are strong. In liquid state, the particles move a bit freely around than in solids, the bonds have become weaker however the particles don't completely move past each other freely. In the gaseous state, particles move freely past each other and bonds have broken off, the particles are distrubuted to the area so it would fill up a whole jar where as a solid would remain as a fixed postion in the jar and liquid would take the shape of the container.Hope it helps.
