Use what you know and what interests you... The introduction paragraph introduces you to the topic at hand.  In a way it is a summary.  There are 2 summaries in an essay: The introduction and the conclusion.  The first sentence in your introduction paragraph is called the grabber sentence.  Just like the whole point of the paragraph, it is for making your reader interested in what you have to say while telling them what your talking about.  Pretend that your reader has no idea what your writing about or anything.  You don't want to just start off in the middle of a thought or write as though you are just answering a question.  Introduce them.

The introduction is like the topic you are writing about. It expresses what feeling you have over your topic. The introduction is short and simple but it also shows the whole meaning of the writing. You can show some really strong thinking just in the introduction and it leads off to the rest of the writing piece. Sometimes you should try to avoid writing some certain things in your introduction. Some people just write their whole story in the introduction which you shouldn't. If you don't understand, here is an example:   Today was the best day ever! It is 11/14/05 in the morning and we are going camping! I went to our camping ground to set up the tent. I picked up my dad's shotgun and killed a bear for it's meat and I............ and so on. So you should always keep it short and simple.Hope this helps!
