The energy of motion.  Linear KE is 0.5*mV^2 where m is the mass of the particle and V is the velocity of the particle.  The units are Joules in the SI system.  There is also rotational KE which would be 0.5 *Iw^2 where I is the moment of inertia and w is the angular velocity of the rotating object.
