Basic laws of radicals...if √x * √y = √xy (IF x and y are REAL numbers)then √xy = √x * √ythey can be 'broken apart'...so...√4x = √4 * √x = 2√x

√4x When you see this sign, √ it basically means that the number that is under it you are going to find half of it. So for 4 it would be two, because half of four is two. It is kinda like the opposite of squaring a number. We know that it is two because two squared is four. The x can't be spilt in this problem it stays the same. If it was X squared then your answer would be 2x but because it isn't your answer is...2√x Hope this helps =)
