Can someone help me solve this problem (3+6i)-(5-2i) the answer in homework checker is giving me 2+8i as the answer and i coming up with 2-4i

Veronica - Just make sure you combine the "real" and "imaginary" components separately and you will be good to go!  Just like when you add mixed variables (x's and y's), do the same here.  Just make sure you "distribute" the minus sign in from of the parenthesis properly! 3 - 5 = -2 6i -(-2i) = 8i -2 + 8i

It seems that you are not distributing the negativity throughout the second term...-(5-2i) = -5+2i
