What I want to know is if I want to solve the x value for 3/x-4/=12, would i first have to multiple 3x-4=12 then time 3 by 4 to get 12 such as 3*4=12

hmm... I am not sure I understand, if your question is: 3/x-4=12 here's how you would solve it: add both sides by 4 and you get 3/x=16 then cross multiply so 16x=3 and finally divide both sides by 16 Final answer: x=3/16
