how do you do     5(x-9)+2x    x=3 anyone.. i know how to do it i just need to know the answer again so i can make sure its right

Sub in the 3 so we get 5(3-9)+2(3)5(-6)+2(3)-30+6 = -24

distribute the 5 to the (x-9) 5x-45+2x combine like-terms: 5x and 2x 7x-45 7(3)-45 21-45= -24
