Since the bases (5) of your first question are all the same and everything is multiplied, just add the exponents.  Then the answer is 5^20 In the next problem 5^4 appears in both terms as the common factor.  Factor it outside the parenthesis: 5^4(1 + 4) = 5^4 + 4*5^4 This becomes 5^4 (5) = (5^4)*5^1 = 5^5 In your last problem the bases are again the same so it is 2^35
