why do the boiling points increase down group 7 ?

Higher boiling points indicate stronger particle attractions.  You can see attractions going down the column are stronger since Bromine is a liquid and Iodine is a solid.  It is also true that the lower elements are more massive, thus harder to get moving.  Thus the BP will be higher.
