well since there are 60 minutes in an hour and 15 goes into 60 four times, you would divide 36 by 4 to get 9 miles in 15 minutes.

There are 60 minutes in an hour which means there are 4, 15 minute intervals in an hour. That being said you simply divide 36 by 4 to get the total miles traveled = 9
